The Memory Cafe,for those with early stage dementia, together with carers, run by The Rotary Club of Leytonstone and Woodford celebrated its fifth anniversary last Friday. Held on the last Friday of the month, at The Convent, Chigwell, the cafe provides two hours of music, quizzes, bingo and a sing-a-long in a secure and safe environment. To mark this occasion the Mayor of Redbridge, Cllr. Linda Huggett, visited the cafe and spent over an hour socialising with the cafe guests, including the presentation of a birthday cake to keyboard supremo Harry, who was celebrating his 95th birthday. In a short speech the Mayor said how these cafes played such an important role for those with dementia.
