The Club celebrated its 60th anniversary in style.

Forty members, partners and guests enjoyed a superb lunch at Auberge du Lac restaurant situated in the grounds of Brocket Hall.

Since its foundation the club has raised many hundreds of thousands of pounds for worthy and deserving local causes, in addition to supporting national and international projects, notably the End Polio Now campaign and supporting the nuns of Chigwell Convent in their work in helping those in need in developing world countries.

Locally, the club’s work has included members building an ornamental garden and a fish pond, both at Whipps Cross hospital, and contributing to a water feature at Haven House Children’s Hospice. Funding Christmas parcels for the elderly and deserving, Christmas presents for children who would not otherwise receive a present; providing transport for members of a partially sighted club and a monthly Memory Café for those suffering early dementia and working with the Salvation Army.

A wide variety of social activities are engaged in which are thoroughly enjoyed by all and which balance the many hours of hard work which members contribute.
